Soldiers at Kibbutz Sa'ad Dear friends,

As we watch the daily news, we see mobs of terrorists in Gaza trying to invade Israel and harm our Jewish brother and sisters. The residents of these communities are ordinary people that are resolutely on the first line of defense of the Jewish people and the State of Israel.

Our friend Ronit Bart and her family live less than two miles from the border onKibbutz Sa’ad. Ronit, who lived in Raleigh, is an English teacher on the kibbutz and is a coordinator to helpLone Soldiers. A "lone soldier" is an IDF soldier with no family in Israel to support him or her.

The kibbutz has had to deal with the nonstop fear of rocket attacks ever since the Israeli disengagement from Gaza in 2005. Recently, they have been the target of terror kites setting fire to their fields and threatening nearby communities.

I recently spoke with Ronit and I asked her if there was anything we could do to help. She mentioned that there is a house on the kibbutz that is designated for the Lone Soldiers that is in urgent need of repairs. This house has already hosted several generations of Lone Soldiers.

Michael Levin z"l lived on the kibbutz. Michael is my personal hero. He was a Lone Soldier from Philadelphia. He was killed in the Lebanon War in 2006.

Ronit found a contractor that gave her an estimate of 70,000 NIS (~$19,500) for a total renovation. Here is alink to the list of improvements.

As many of you know, I am a Raleigh native. I now live in the heart of Tel Aviv. I had the honor of serving as a lone solder in the Nahal Infantry Brigade and I continue to serve as a combat soldier in reserve duty.

Your generosity with this project sends an important message of solidarity to the lone soldiers and the residents of the South. Your contribution is directly benefiting those that are actively defending the State of Israel.

Your donation is tax-deductible and 100% of proceeds will go to the kibbutz.

Our Raleigh Jewish community has an opportunity to sponsor this renovation. I look forward to sending pictures of the completed project in the near future.
